Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) is the most popular form of digital asset in the last two years, NFTs can be associated with digital art, music, or in-game asset. Recently, NFTs have emerged as a foundation for the internal infrastructure and economy of the metaverse. One interesting example is the use of NFTs to buy virtual land in the metaverse, which worth USD$3.2M. These virtual spaces use NFTs, as opposed to a physical deed, to reflect ownership of specific locations within a virtual world. In this talk, the speaker will talk about what are digital assets and NFTs, and also how they are used in the metaverse.

About the speaker:
Dr Tsz Hon Yuen is an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Hong Kong. His current research interests include cryptography, privacy-preserving protocols and blockchain. He has published more than 50 technical papers. He worked in the industry for 4 years and has published more than 10 patents.
