From Ground to Air
Drone Building and Programming Workshop for Beginners
by HKU UAS

Date:  November 6, 8, 9 & 11, 2023 (Mon, Wed, Thu & Sat)

Time: 6:30 – 9:00pm (Weekdays); 10:00am -12:00nn (Sat)

Venue: Open Event Area, Tam Wing Fan Innovation Wing One, HKU

HKUUAS aims to build a community of students who are interested in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and drone technology. In the training series, you will learn the scientific principle behind a quadcopter. You will also have the opportunity to practice piloting First-person view (FPV) drone and using ground control station software.

Objectives:

By the end of workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Gain basic understanding of current UAV technologies;
  2. Learn basic techniques for piloting FPV drones;
  3. Understand the control theory behind quadcopters and how to create one;
  4. Identify quadcopter drone parts and their functions;
  5. Utilize Ground Control Station (GCS) software; and
  6. Learn about obstacle avoidance algorithms and their applications
