Innovation Academy is looking for a new batch of Full-time Temporary Student Research Assistant(s) (SRA) for Summer 2024 in the following fields:
1. Robotics
2. Generative
3. Internet of Things
The Students Research Assistant(s) will participate in the application development projects in the respective areas with other academic disciplines or industry partners, as coordinated by the Innovation Academy. They will also involve in designing and delivering workshops.
In this recruitment talk, supervisors and the current SRAs of each stream will share about the internship experience, as well as their existing and upcoming projects.

There are three main projects areas for our student research assistants:
Robotics: Rover, Robotic Arm, Hexapod
Motion planning and control, computer vision for robotics, human-robot interface, and reinforcement learning
Generative Artificial Intelligence: Historian Assistant and Museum Guide, Social Work Training Chatbot, Digital Twin
LLM fine-tuning, AI agents, computer vision
Internet of Things: Crowd Control Sensor
Sensor networks, machine learning
We are looking for passionate students to work as Full-time Temporary Student Research Assistants for 2026 at Innovation Wing. Our Student Research Assistants will work on real-world industrial challenges and deliver engaging workshops to fellow HKU students. Applicants are expected to be efficient in programming or design prototyping to effectively address these challenges and have good interpersonal skills to present their achievements.
Applicants must be current members of the Innovation Wing (https://innowings.engg.hku.hk/innowing1/membership/). We are looking for highly committed members of the Innovation Wing community who demonstrate strong responsibility, motivation, and initiative. The appointees will work on hands-on projects related to artificial intelligence and computer vision, GenAI, electronics, or robotics. Successful candidates should be able to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team to meet tight deadlines. The appointment will commence from June to August 2026 with the possibility of renewal in the next semester, subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
