Robotics has always been a popular branch in high-tech innovation, with a history of over 50 years and countless pinnacles from cutting-edge innovations to life-changing products and paradigm-shifting enterprises. Not so much for soft robots, however, with a much shorter past and a much quieter path to commercialization, despite being one of the most popular specialty research areas in robotics to-date. In this short dialog, we will pick a consecutive few concise but crucial topics from the journey our group has undertaken, over the past decade or so, in bringing our take of soft robotics from its very infant phase of conceptual exploration all the way to product engineering and commercial application. We hope this could inspire some with an open heart for technical transfer and those with a natural appetite for curiosity into starting up a company to bring an idea to realization.

Dr. Zheng Wang, Founder and CEO of Wisson Robotics
Dr Z. Wang is the founder and CEO of Wisson Robotics, a global pioneer in general-purpose soft robots. By developing and deploying innovative soft robots with high safety, high performance, and low cost, Wisson aims to bring next-generation robotic products to the industry and households. Prior to founding Wisson, Dr Wang spent over a decade in academia, formerly a professor at the Institute of Robotics, Southern Univ. of Science and Technology, China, and an assistant professor at Department of Mechanical Engineering at HKU. Dr Wang holds a first degree in Automatic Control from Tsinghua University, China, PhD in Robotics from Technical University Munich, Germany, and served postdoc fellowships in NTU, Singapore and Harvard, USA.
As a technology leader, Wisdom specializes in Digital Twins, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, IoT, and AR/VR technologies. His deep understanding of these fields has been crucial in positioning Asia Infrastructure Solutions as a pioneer in digital technology implementation. His leadership style combines innovative thinking with practical execution, enabling the company to adapt and thrive in the rapidly evolving technological landscape.
