Project teams participate in the Engineering InnoShow have to note the following activities:

  • InnoWing can help print the poster for the project team if the poster file is submitted before 12:30 April 23.
  • Otherwise, project team has to print the poster by yourselves. Posters have to follow the requirements as specified in Step 2-Arrangement 2

Students are required to stand by their posters to answer questions about their projects when the judge panel comes and views their posters during the InnoShow

Step 1: Submit project details
(Priority for projects submitted on or before 12:30 pm on April 23, 2019 (Tue) )
  • Please submit the project details via the following URL. 
  • Priority will be given for projects submitted on or before 12:30 p.m. on April 23, 2019 (Tue)
  • You can update your submitted project anytime.
  • The following information about your project is required.
    1. Topic of the project;
    2. Team supervisor(s);
    3. Team leader (Name, study programme, contact phone, email);
    4. Team members (Name, study programme);
    5. Short summary/description of the project (Around 100 words);
    6. Project cover image
    7. Project poster – submit on or before 12:30pm, April 23 for InnoWing to help printing. Please provide soft copy, and refer to Step 2 for the size requirements;
    8. Project short video (Please provide a link, preferably around one minute);
  • Optional information such as other project images, project website, FB, IG, …etc can also be provided.
  • InnoShow committee will create a project page for your project on the InnoShow website, which is publicly accessible.
  • Please contact Miss Emily Leung (emilyleung@hku.hk) if there is any update to the submitted information.
Step 2: Printing Posters and Foam Boards
(We can help you print on or before 12:30pm. on April 23, 2019 (Tue) )
There are two arrangement options for poster printing:
  1. Arrangement 1. The project team submit the poster in soft copy before 12:30 p.m. on April 23, 2019 (Tue) through Step 1  for InnoWing team to do the printing for the project team.
  2. Arrangement 2. The project team will print the poster by themselves. Please bring the receipt to registration counter at Haking Wong podium on April 29 15:45 for reimbursement. Each project team can reimburse at most $150.

Printing cost
  • For each project group, InnoWing will pay the printing cost for one 36 inch * 36 inch poster only.
  • For extra copies, students will have to pay out of their own pocket for the extra cost incurred. The printing cost for each 36 inch * 36 inch poster is around HK$ 126.
Procedures for submitting poster files
  • Submission method:
    • Please modify your poster file on google file
      (Suggest file size not exceed 200mb)
  • Submission deadline:
    • Before 12:30 p.m. on April 23, 2019 (Tue)
  • Poster Sample:
  • *If you cannot submit your source files by the deadline, you need to contact the printing companies by yourself. Please bring the receipt to InnoWing Office at RSC, G01 G/F, Haking Wong Building, HKU (Miss Emily Leung) for reimbursement on/before April 29, 2019.
  • Each project team can reimburse at most $150 from InnoWing.
Print job submission
Step 3: Setting up project booth
(15:45 pm - 18:00 pm on April 29 (Monday) )
  • Each project group will be assigned a project booth.
  • We will provide electricity and an examination table (to be shared with two projects).
  • The exhibition venue will be open for poster setup from 15:45 pm on April 29.
  • Please come to the registration area at 15:45pm on April 29 to retrieve posters (if your project has requested InnoWing to print the poster) and magic fastening tape (魔術貼).
  • Project group should report to the registration area and then setup the project booth with poster on or before 18:00 pm April 29.

Step 4: InnoShow Day
(10:00 am - 14:00 pm, on April 30 (Tuesday) )
  • Where is my assigned project booth?
Details of the project exhibition are as follows:
    • Date: April 30, 2019 (Tue)
    • Time: 10:00am – 14:00pm
    • Venue: Haking Wong Podium (outside Canteen)

Arrangements

    1. Students are required to stand by their posters to answer questions about their projects when the judge panel comes and views their posters during the InnoShow
    2. Each project group should have at least one student on duty between 10:00 am-2:00 pm, so that the judges can find someone there to demonstrate the project to them.
    3. A table is provided for the project group to set up demonstrations.
    4. You may use a notebook at the exhibition. Your notebook can access the Internet through HKU WiFi Network. Make sure that the network card of your notebook has been registered to use HKU ACEnet, and select “University WiFi” to connect.

Awards & Prizes

1. Dean’s funding to achieve greater impact:  Selected teams will receive HK$10,000 sponsorship to participate in external competitions or incubation/ entrepreneurship/ startup programmes.

* The awarding teams will need to consult the Director of the Tam Wing Fan Innovation Wing before joining the competitions or programmes and should seek reimbursement after successful completion of the competitions or programmes. The sponsorship will be reimbursed on an accountable basis (including but not limited to original invoices and receipts or other evidence of payment) on or before 30 June 2019.

2. Microsoft innovation prize:  The most innovative project will receive a prize (Surface pro 6) from Microsoft.

3. The best project award for each of the following participating courses.
