The Robot Operating System (ROS) (https://www.ros.org/) is a set of software libraries and tools that help you build robot applications. From drivers to state-of-the-art algorithms, and with powerful developer tools, ROS has what you need for your next robotics project. ROS is de facto industrial standard for developing system for robots. It is important to everyone who wants to work in the field of robotics.
This workshop consists of four sessions to lead beginners to learn ROS framework and each session will take up 2 hours on weekly base:
Date: October 10 (Mon), 11 (Tue), 13 (Thu) and 14 (Fri), 2022
October 10 (Session 1) – VM setup for ROS programming; VS code for remote programming development
October 11 (Session 2) – ROS nodes and node topics
October 13 (Session 3) – ROS message and services
October 14 (Session 4) – ROS launch files and parameters; ROS interfacing to robot firmware
Time: 2:30-4:30pm

A limited quota of 15 will be offered on first-come-first-served basis.
Eligibility: All HKU Engineering Students and InnoHub members, preferably with C/C++ programming knowledge.
