The 9th Engineering Inno Show

NeuroHarbor

Epilepsy, affecting over 70 million individuals worldwide, can cause significant physical injuries and psychosocial isolation. Epileptic seizures often incapacitate patients’ movement, making everyday activities potentially perilous, even fatal. The accurate and rapid detection of seizure onsets is vital for improving patients’ quality of life. Furthermore, traditional EEG diagnosis requires patients to remain bedridden, tethered by a wired headset until a seizure occurs. This process is disruptive, calling for a compact, wearable, and clinical-grade EEG headset that empowers mobility and real-time seizure monitoring.
We are poised to deliver this solution with an AI-powered wearable EEG headset. This innovative device, equipped with a proprietary AI model, facilitates real-time computing and rapid seizure detection. It ensures minimal latency, lower power consumption, compact design, and robust privacy, outpacing traditional systems. This technology liberates patients from wired, bed-restricted EEG setups, significantly enhancing their quality of life.

Beach Cleaning Robot

With the increasing concern about environmental pollution, particularly in coastal areas, the need for effective beach cleaning solutions has become paramount. This project aims to design and develop an unmanned beach cleaning robot capable of efficiently removing litter and maintaining the cleanliness of sandy shorelines. The successful execution of this initiative holds the potential to completely transform beach cleaning procedures in Hong Kong, actively contributing to environmental preservation, while simultaneously fostering greater awareness and involvement in maintaining the cleanliness of our coastlines.

Float: Message in a Bottle to Connect With Locals Worldwide

Float aims to enhance cultural immersion by connecting travellers with local natives worldwide through a gamified ‘Message in a Bottle’ feature. Float serves as a cultural compass — whether it’s for assembling a futon in a Japanese Ryokan or gaining trustworthy insights while traversing India. By integrating AI with human expertise, Float provides instant reliable translations, encouraging cultural understanding and user engagement through features like polls and threads, connecting learners with native speakers for a genuine exchange of language and culture.

Airring for construction workers @ 9th Inno Show

Our project is dedicated to developing protective wearables to combat future environmental conditions and climate events, proposing a sustainable living style. Our current project focuses on a cooling additive for construction safety hats, which provides a practical solution to keep temperatures down for workers in adverse site conditions exacerbated by global warming. This directly addresses the sustainability challenge of ensuring worker health and productivity in the face of rising temperatures in the built environment.

The Impact of ChatGPT on Problem-Based Learning in Medical Education: A Comparative Study on an Anaphylaxis Tutorial

Generative AI, such as ChatGPT provides many promises, yet its role in medical education remains unclear and controversial. To evaluate the impact of adopting ChatGPT in medical education, we developed a pilot randomised controlled trial to evaluate the impact of ChatGPT on medical students ability to achieve learning outcomes in a problem-based learning (PBL) tutorial on anaphylaxis. We then evaluated the ability of GPT-3.5 and GPT-4.0 to achieve the learning outcomes in the PBL case. Results showed that students who used ChatGPT achieve the learning outcomes better, and GPT-3.5 and GPT-4.0 models of ChatGPT could achieve the PBL learning outcomes with minimal prompting. Nevertheless, the adoption of ChatGPT could also hinder the development of clinical reasoning skills.

Ergonomic Integrated Management System for 3D Printers @ 9th Inno Show

Our approach involves leveraging the power of a language model, specifically the LLM (Large Language Model), to interpret and understand verbal commands. We tuned the LLM on a dataset of 3D printing-related instructions and implemented a robust natural language processing system to accurately recognize and execute user commands, ensuring seamless interaction with the 3D printer.

AI Agent: Moot Court Project

Our AI Agent Moot Court Project is an innovative exploration into the application of artificial intelligence within the legal realm. We use AI agents to assume the roles of Plaintiff, Defendant, and Judge, engaging in the intricacies of legal reasoning and debate. This project endeavors to construct a sophisticated conversational system with multi-agent capabilities, paving the way for a comprehensive analysis of the agents’ performance within a moot court environment. By addressing challenges such as contextual limitations and exploring topics like multi-step prompting, the project aims to assess the feasibility of integrating AI in the field of law.

UNIFIGHT – A University Mobile Game

When we were asked to make a game in COMP3329, we wanted to make one that could make university life more engaging, and create motivation for students to go to campus to attend classes. We first design a U-life-related story plot, with a dozen of unique and special playable characters that have beautiful graphics. Then we create a simple battle mechanism and different skill set for every character to make the game. Moreover, we take inspiration from Pokemon GO, where players can travel around to receive rewards only in University Areas. We also plan to make PVP functions, including letting different universities compete together.
